Here at our clinic, we take pride in the fact that we are a multi-specialty facility. Our therapies include:
We believe in offering these therapies as a team effort so that our patients benefit from all types of conservative treatments. We have received some great response from this collaborative effort because our patients benefit as a whole from our combined therapies and teamwork.
Sometimes a patient might need some structural stabilization to increase mobility and physical therapy can assist them in that; or a patient might need to strengthen a particular set of muscles which falls into the area of massage therapy. It all depends on the patient’s particular needs and we can customize a program specifically for those needs. Other conservative options might include acupuncture and research has shown the effectiveness of this therapy. As I have discussed in the past, exercise is extremely important and this therapy should be supervised by a trainer in a controlled environment.
Further conservative treatment might come from pain management physicians and through the use of epidural steroid injections.
The more qualified people you have on your personal health team, the greater the benefit. They should be able to communicate clearly with each other so that your treatment options are fully recognized. This collaboration is similar to the old toolbox analogy in that the more tools you have in your box, the better your abilities will be to repair what needs to be repaired and I sincerely believe this type of interaction is the future of our healthcare. This teamwork effort requires egos to be checked at the door so that all professionals can see the big picture, that being the best way for a patient to benefit from a combined effort. For instance, my expertise lies in joint and soft tissue mobilization of structures; however, our physical therapists excel in strengthening and stabilization. We all want to see our patients return to a pain-free lifestyle and we hope to give them the ability to maintain that for the future.
