Dr. Riley:
This is called tall kneeling punches, wide to narrow. What we’ve done here is we’ve gotten Brie in a tall kneeling position with her knees about shoulder width apart. We’ve affixed some type of tubing to the wall at about chest level. And then she’s holding this right in the middle of her chest or her sternum. From here, what we’re going to do is stay very engaged in your core and all she’s going to do is punch out and come back. We want a moderate amount of tension on the tubing. Stay engaged and then it’s just out and in nice and easy. So stay engaged in your core. This is a great drill that’s very safe to wake up your core, get your trunk stabilizers working as well. So we’re going to do about 15 punches with wide base.
Now what we’re going to do is we’re going to have her bring her knees in closer, which is going to narrow her base, which should make this a little more difficult. She’s going to do the same thing, out and in, staying really tight in your core, nice and easy, out and in. 15 reps or so of those. Turn around, do the other side as well. It’s called tall kneeling, wide to narrow with punch.
