This past year has been outstanding for everyone here at Tulsa Spine and Rehab. We were able to move into a large new space right across the hall in Midtown Tulsa. Most importantly, though, we’ve been meeting our goal of adding more great people to our team. That way, our patients will have an unprecedented range of options all under one roof.
Since its inception, Tulsa Spine and Rehab has strove to become a group of knowledgeable, like-minded providers. It’s very important that everyone on our team is upbeat, open, and able to communicate with patients in a personable manner. In modern healthcare it’s a very real issue where many organizations have simply lost their touch with their patients. We think it’s important to avoid being cold and business-like with the people who visit us. If we can create an environment where patients are comfortable, it will be much easier for them during the course of treatment. That’s why we need to do our best to foster a friendly atmosphere and chat with them person-to-person.
We’ve been fortunate to bring on some great people this year who share our philosophy. In addition, everyone on our team has unique skills to contribute. This past year, our patients have had more options available to them as a result. We’re proud that we’re able to offer such comprehensive care for patients with many types of disorders.
I specialize in functional physical care, and I’m excited to add Dr. John DiMaggio to our team. Dr. DiMaggio is originally from Chicago, and he later attended school in St. Louis. Ryan Smith heads our physical therapy department, where he helps patients with many orthopedic injuries. Holly Thompson specializes in concussions, vertigo, and balance disorders. Megan Warner is a doctor of physical therapy who specializes in women’s health.
We have three great massage therapists: Claire, Derek, and Shawnda. Each of them specializes in manual therapies and clinical massage, but they also have their own unique style. Derek works with many athletes that happen to be here in town, and Claire and Shawnda have made a niche for themselves as well.
Dr. Stacy Dunn, our naturopathic physician and acupuncturist, has been with us for about a year. She specializes in dealing with natural remedies and, obviously, acupuncture. It’s an eye-opening experience to learn about the many applications of acupuncture (some of which most people aren’t even aware of). Not only does acupuncture help with pain and many types of conditions, but it also has a significant effect on allergies, stress, and other day-to-day issues.
Rebecca Ward offers yoga classes, and Bree Robinson handles the fitness side of the practice. If someone is undergoing therapy or being treated for a specific condition, she can see exactly what is going on and facilitate a transition for the patient into a supervised fitness program. She does a fabulous job of illustrating the importance of fitness to all of our patients.
Up front, our support staff is made up of Yvette, Summer, Stephanie, and Courtney. They all do a phenomenal job. Every single person on our team has made a profound impact on our progress this past 2014, and we look forward to seeing what comes next.
One of the benefits of having our team under one roof is the open line of communication. Whenever a patient sees multiple providers at Tulsa Spine and Rehab, the providers are able to communicate openly and directly about the patient’s care. If any changes or concerns were to arise, our providers would be able to convey that information immediately.
We’re already thinking about our plans for 2015 and beyond. There are a few more people that would further round out the clinic’s offering, and there are some other plans we haven’t discussed yet. Looking back, 2014 has been a very good year—we’re proud to say that we have cared for many people. Our team has done a great job of cultivating a fun, friendly environment. Ultimately, it all comes down to doing the best job that we can for our patients.
As with most of the treatments offered at Tulsa Spine and Rehab, there isn’t much of a downside. The treatments aren’t invasive and there aren’t extreme side-effects associated with them. All they require is spending a bit of your day to visit the office for treatment. If you would like to learn more about the range of options we offer under our roof, contact us online today or give us a call at (918) 743-3737.
