Tulsa Spine & Rehab is built on the belief that integrated therapies and those patients with knee and ankle problems, as well as shoulder issues, can greatly benefit from a combination of these therapies. Ryan Smith’s expertise in serving as a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, one of only a few in the state of Oklahoma, adds unequalled depth to our team. His focus is primarily on sports and orthopedic injuries, which include patients who have suffered joint replacements, rotator cuff repairs, as well as neck and low back pain. In this post, Ryan explains benefits he’s seen as a result of integrating Chiropractic treatment with physical therapy.
While some people might find physical therapy combined with chiropractic treatment to be an odd combination, I have witnessed their combined benefits achieve remarkable results. In fact, our patients love the benefits that they see from combined treatments. We are unique in this aspect and historically, the different therapies have actually battled a turf war so to speak. While we may spar in competition over our golf games, Dr. Riley and I share a common view in that we believe what is most important is treating the patient with the best possible course of action to promote healing. Dr. Riley is skilled in providing mobilization and manipulation diagnostics; and when we combine our particular strengths and resources, the end result is a custom treatment plan that can most benefit our patients’ particular needs.
Our clinic also includes a physical therapist who specializes in balance and vestibular therapy. This therapy benefits patients who may suffer from falls. They may be falling as a result of dizziness or other reasons, and unfortunately, falls occur more often than most people realize.
Whether our patients need treatment with our massage therapist, on a yoga track, or manual treatment with Dr. Riley, we have the variety of disciplines here in the clinic to give them exactly what they need. There is a positive energy here, a refreshing break from white walls with no windows and no music. We keep the atmosphere upbeat, vibrant and encourage communication; we want our patients to feel good about their treatment. We have found that our patients heal at a much faster rate if they have a good attitude, and our clinic works hard to support that positive approach.
